Was not sure what catagory to put this in but thought it may help people out there. If this is common knowledge then sorry.
Friend had an iphone that stopped working, apple store told him that it was water damaged and that it was £150 for a new one.
There is a bit of paper that goes pink when wet (inside the chargeing slot) you might need a torch to see it.
we also took it to another apple store and they confirmed this saying the connector had been corroded also (pretty unlikly in the 3 months he had the phone)
To fix this we got a small amount of bleech on the end of a craft knife and spread it onto the paper.
When covered, put the phone into a small bag of rice and left for 3 days.
Took phone to another apple store, new phone given for free.

The bleach trick has been around but never heard of the bag of rice part added to it.
