3G housing materials [...] and the front bezel is made of?
Does anybody know exactly what the front bezel is made of? I think it's the same for 2G/3G/3GS but I have found no specific information on what it actually is.
It's hard, shiny and durable. But what is it? A few random guesses:
- Polished stainless steel
- Chrome plated steel
- Anodized aluminum alloy
- Nickel plate
I tend to eliminate steel options because it doesn't seem to be magnetic at all, but that's just thought.
Please, if you know something, post away. Thanks!

I'm pretty sure it's just a plastic chrome surrounding.

Nope, it isn't plastic. Unless it's a non-OEM replacement bought off eBay from China. It's a hard metal frame that protects the screen and contributes to the phone's sturdiness. It may also have some electric/shielding role since it's connected to the mainboard in several points.

I was about to dismiss the steel again but then I thought (thanks cpjr) I should test it once more. This time I used a super strong magnet and, surprisingly enough, there was some attraction! It wasn't fatal but it was there nevertheless.
So yeah, looks like steel it is... sort of. I mean the magnetism is pretty weak, plus there's the mirror-like shine. I'm thinking an exotic alloy with some chrome and nickel in the mix.

But I seen aftermarket ones that were steel. I was trying to remember which way it went, lol

Chinamen can call anything anything. Anything that's acceptable quality is called OEM. Similarly, anything that looks like metal can be called metal.
Oh, and then they have those plain funny terms like "high copy" and such, lol.
