3g vibrate not working

Hi,

a friend of mine gave me his 3g bc he got the new 3gs

the vibrate doesnt work on it
when i flip the button the speaker icon comes up like its in silent mode but it doesnt vibrate

when i go into the settings app the vibrate is turned on but when i turn it off and on again it doesnt vibrate like my 2g does

is there anything i can do to fix it?

im not sure what the inner workings of the 3g are....i have taken apart a few 2g iphones

if not im just gonna sell it on ebay

any help or suggestions would be appreciated

The motor is pretty easy to replace (and cheap if you have too), but I wouldnt know for sure exactly what the issue is without seeing the phone.

To knock out any possibilities, you may also wanna try a restore first.
