1. Donít let your child play with the iPhone connector. Children are very fond of putting everything into their mouth, which can dampen the pins inside the connector.
2. Make sure that the pins are clean and there are no combustible specks inside.
3. Do not keep your iPhone charged overnight or whole day. Keeping it connected to power for too long is risky. Itís bad for the battery too.mod/edit links removed

Yea i would think so. when i first got my iPhone i was constantly charging it because i never turn it off, but one day i recalled what the AT&T rep told me when i purchased my 3g back in October, the battery is only expected to last about 6 months if your constantly playing with it (like I do) or you just cant leave it alone. so... don't over charge. i charger my pone at work during the day, and leave it off the charger all night, i do recommend purchasing the replacement plan if you got your phone within the last 10-11 months or so.

I've had my iphone for over 2 years.. i charge it all night long, and even plug it in while i'm at work. I haven't seen any change in battery. There is a chip in the charger that senses when the phone battery is charged so it won't over charge that battery. ATT rep is full of crap they get commission for selling you on that protection plan. Don't forget apple gives you a free 1 year warrenty.1st gen iPhone custom pwn’d

You need to read up more on lithium batteries. It does not harm these batteries to be plugged in all the time. They do not overcharge, they simply quit charging after they are topped off. Go to Apples site for more battery info.
