iPhone 3G light sensor problem after replacing digitizer + LCD [WITH VIDEOS!]

Hey guys, first post! Haha, but yeah, I've got a problem on my hands that's quite frustrating. I'll let the video explain my problem, but if you can't watch it right away, here is the gist:

-replaced digitizer + lcd (it works, didn't break any cables, i can hear out of earpiece, headphones, nothings wrong)
-iPhone won't work with direct sunlight hitting the sensors
-iPhone LCD won't turn off when close to face while on the phone (but if i cover the sensors, it won't allow me to "click" anything, i.e. i could be tapping on mute, but it won't register unless my hand is off the sensors)

and, here is the video!

EDIT: New discovery!

-Phantom keyboard presses when i put pressure on the sensor area

Please help! I'm one of the few people that actually speak literately on forums asking for help, AND I got videos to help explain my problem! =P

bump for great justice!

Well it doesn't take much to figure your sensors are screwing this up. So......... take it back apart and do it again.

I pretty much figured that... but i've opened up and reattached the cable maybe 9 times now, even to the point of prying the digitizer/glass off the top to make sure the sensors weren't covered. And as I said, the earpiece works, i've used the phone to call people until my face keeps touching the end call button to the point i use speaker or a pair of headphones to be able to lock the screen.

My current guess is that when i had to use a heat gun to free up the glue between the OEM glass and midboard, i might've screwed up the sensors.

Does it sound safe to say that i need to get a new sensor flex cable? And, if I were to get a new one off of ebay, how do I install that?

Yeah you probably toasted it when you cooked it with a heat gun.

You can pop #3 cable off in about 3 seconds with a small flathead screwdriver.

so cable 3 is just a quick pop out, pop in, no soldering necessary? is the headphone piece just need to have contact on the cable?

ok, im doing the repair, but im in a bind.

how the hell do i get the metal piece off?!

ok, so i've replaced the prox/light flex, proximity works, where i can't touch anything, but it still wont shut the screen off and my phone still locks up in daylight/bright light.

what could be the problem?

FINAL UPDATE

It was what I suspected.

The aftermarket digitizer's black was TOO black near the sensors.

Pry'd the glass forward, stuck a screwdriver in there and began to scratch the glass to reveal the sensors.

works like a charm now.

you're going to have to man handle that piece off. it's going to feel like you're going to break it, but keep prying at it, from the right side (the side that has the screw) and work your way towards the ear piece.

Glad you got it working bro! I just put a mirror screen protector on my phone last night and although it kinda looks cool, my proximity sensors aren't working right anymore.

I was contemplating removing the mirror face altogether or just slicing the area where the proximity sensors are when I found your thread lol

Keep up the good work
