I have the iphone 2g which is now almost 2 years old and i had it in my bathroom playing music on my ihome during a shower today and a little while later the power button has stopped functioning. it still clicks and seems like it should work but the system does not respond.
Ive done some google searches and ive seen the tutorials on taking the phone part, but i am not convinced i will be able to fix anything if i take it apart. is there a part i should find to replace? anyone know what might be the problem? could it come back if i leave it sit for a couple of days drying?
thanks for reading and any help you may provide.

Some steam probably got in there and condensed which would be water damage. You would not want to take apart a 2G if you have no idea what you are doing. Leave the phone alone for a while until it is able to dry out and see if any damage is permanent.

I am guessing exactly what Neo is; water got in there.
Your best bet is to put the phone in a ziplock bag of rice. Rice will absorb all of the moisture. Let it sit for about a day.
