Default Orange pRon V2 - Return of the Apple logo
So, a few weeks back I waz playing with the airbrush and have painted a few iphone housings. The first being in Orange, which waz posted here earlier.

Version 1 - Testing (Hugger Orange and Clear)

Many expressed the absolute need for the Apple logo (I too admire it), so after a little work and more airbrushing talent (Thats right, the logo is airbrushed) ..........

Here you have, the logo returns.....

V2 - House of Kolors Tangelo Pearl, Snow White Pearl (Logo) and Kosmic Clear

Pics dont do this color justice!

OK, so the million dollar question.... Is that the OEM logo or you paint it on? I can see the rough edges on it, but I can't tell if it is from top or bottom.

That is totally airbrushed on over the orange! And if the edges look rough...its the pic, cause they aint Then everything was cleared.

Made a stencil and applied several light coats.

That looks pretty sweet. Can Apple tell if you have opened your housing? I would love to have another color on mine, but don't want to ruin any chance of warranty work.

Aside from the paint you cant tell its been opened I've taken em phones before and they didnt know

But you could never do a paint job like this with the phone together.....cause of the edges where the buttons are and speaker holes...etc. So, yeah I dont see em working on it.

looks sick cpjr had a question though did you have any issues with the sim tray, camera bezel, or the bezel bezel fitting the same way cuz you said you applied some clear and that sometimes can happen. oh yeah and what about wet sanding after the clear did you need to? i'm fixin to do this on my old one

The bezels and such had a more "snug" fit to get in there but not bad. I only painted the top of the simtray (figured out on the last one you dont wanna paint the sides or it wont go in).

And no wetsanding after the clear, if you spray it in a clean area (dust free-ish) and let it dry in a clean area there's no need.

I only wetsand the base color. Which on this was the orange and the logo (sanded together).

If you happen to get some "crap" in the topcoat before it dries....then you can wetsand it and apply another coat.

    Sorry for the confusion...

So I could buy a casing, have it painted and installed, and then put the original one back on if I had to send it in?

^Ahhh, if your good then absolutely.

I can rip apart an iphone and throw it back together and you'd never know it was ever opened. Trust me Apple has received a couple of them

Do you do repairs? I have a 2g 8gig that my son found on the side of the road while fixing a flat. Works kinda, cracked screen, top row unresponsive. Needs battery cover and one speaker is really scratched up. Would like a custom painted back cover would be awesome. Est.$
Prolly cheaper to buy one off off eBay Huh?

Heh. I have never taken one apart before so I won't be ripping anything :P

I am thinking of buying a test phone for some coding I have to do for a carrier selection menu so I could have that one painted.

Yeah I do repairs too. And yeah it would be cheaper to get a housing from ebay (can be found for less than $20) than have i painted. Unless you do it yourself

The screen though, on a 2g the glass/digitizer and LCD are all 1 piece, and that part is about $150.

If i were to send you a back plate (housing) from eBay how much would you charge to paint it one color and have the apple logo on it? I would pay all shipping charges and everything with paypal, Thanks. Oh and are they easy to open up? I have the proper tools for normal ipods like the video and classic. Is it pretty much the same opening an iphone?
