Where to get new plastic cover for iphone 3g?

hello where can i buy a new cover for my iphone 3g? Or how much would it cost me to send it to apple for them to replace it? O yh whats the best program to trace my iphone if i lose it? Thanks!

The back cover is about $35 and there are several places that sell close-to-OEM ones in many different colors.

As for tracking the phone, there are a few apps for this available via the App Store, however I can't remember any of their names right now.

Btw how do i remove it and open it? where can i get a tutorial?
i did find videos on youtube but they all show LCD repair and stuff and i need to remove the back plate!
grrr... im scared of not ruinin my iphone 3g...

An oem housing will run yeah nearly $100 for the part. Just google it, theres a couple online places to grab them.

Click my sig link for an example of swapping them out.

If its for scuffs and scratches....you can actually take the old housing and wetsand + apply a few coats of clear and it will look like new

I wouldnt suggest trying it...if you dont have some background in that type of thing. It can be a pain.

iv moded my PSP does that count?
i mean i disambled it and reasambled with new plastics and buttons and stuff...
and yeh my iphone is scrached how can i make it look like new? didnt get what u ment before..

If your good with disassembling small electronics...knock it out. Its like everything else....dont guess if your not sure .

Those phones have alot of "pressure" connections...meaning parts connect to other parts simply by touching each other. So...you just gotta make sure everything is in place, or it either wont work, or will short something out.

As far as reusing an old housing...you can actually take the phone apart....take the old housing and "wetsand" it (literally) with about 2000grit sandpaper, then apply a few coats of clearcoat to it. It will bling like new. Thats the cheap way out

thanks ill try to make it bling first but than wen i recive my 3 backplates i got for 10$ on ebay ill put a new 1 on to see how it looks =) thanks i bookmarked ur link on disembly! and btw how u gona repaint the apple logo on?

You can use craft foil and cover it in clear. But I'll probably just leave it off, dunno yet. I didnt wetsand the logo much so it actually still shines through some, and makes it look like a "ghost" logo.

And if you got 3 for $10 on ebay....you didnt order a housing, you ordered "covers". Double check what you bought, I bet their NOT housings

No. Sorry. Those just go over your existing housing. They might work good though, at least it would keep you from taking the thing apart.

But for the actual housing, it would be something like this (you got to search for "iphone 3g housing":

Cool. It'll prolly take about 2 weeks to get it from hong kong. I have used the blue and red....I love the red which is what im using now.
