iPhone is completely broken...

I left my iPhone in the rain for 40 mins... and.... to make a long story short it was broken... the camera wasnt detected, the backlight would not turn on, touchpad wouldn't work and a bunch of other stuff...

I took it to a "Genius" and they went over how i wouldn't be able to get a new one because of the water sensor... they told me to put it in rice...

i did that, and then put it next to a fan, and that worked....

I plugged it in and it worked fine and i could take pictures, make calls, it all worked... except for the power button, then it turned off somehow (i forgot) and then when i would restart it and it would go to the apple splash screen, flash, and restart. It did this for a few hours, i couldn't stop it... i would plug it in and it would restart just fine.... then it would stop going in its endless loop of Apple logo, and restart....

i unplugged it, and it seemed like it was doing the Apple logo, restart thing, It would do that like 6 times and then boot up fine without being plugged in, and the power button would work, it was like a normal iphone, i could even shut it off and it would stay off, and restart fine.

Then it broke again and went back to randomly restarting and going to Apple screen, flash, restart...

I put it back in the rice.... any suggestions

You have a fried iphone. There are a hundred different things that could be wrong with it....and the only way to tell is a complete disassembly and probing all of the insides to see where the "shorts" are at.

i don't know how to disassemble it

is there any hope for it? should i give it moore time to dry?

As for selling it: the screen has been cracked for some time

is iResQ trustworthy?

You cracked the screen some time ago and have now left it out in the rain for 40 minutes?

You should be sued for negligence!!

On a serious note I really hope you get it sorted. I can't imagine life without my iPhone. Feel for you buddy.

Hi Dryice,

had same problem, made me crazy for more than two weeks. Please tell how many days ago your phone got contact to the water. How many days you put it already in rice? Often it takes about 5 days to get it dry. (I have read).
I used some special salt and it took about one week until it worked again.
After that everything worked except the homebutton.
I opened the iphone and believe me i have no clue to handle such small electronic stuff, but i got the homebutton repaired after opening and closing the phone 4 times. Took me 1,5 hours. I just wanna say its not that difficult u just have to try or dry.
Whats your status in the moment.

Good luck, if you wanna open it i will find some links for you, or i can explain how to get away the corrusion.

Greetings Timo

Same happened to mine. Sat in the rain for about an hour before I noticed it was gone. Once I recovered it, I noticed it was blinking, restarting over and over, power not working, basically everything you described.

After I finally got it to power off and stay off, I blew the water out with an air canister, put a fan on it, then put it in some rice for a few days. After it turned on fine but wasn't 100%; power button still wasn't working, but it stayed on and all system applications worked fine. I plugged it in to my car charger and everything started working again perfectly and still is. Don't know what the surge of the charger did, but it must have "juiced it up".

I think what you do with it after the initial water damage will determine what will happen to it.

If you took the phone out prematurity before the phone had time to completely dry, then you might have done more harm then good.

At this point the only choice you have is leave it in the rice for about a week, then turn it on and plug it to a charger. DO NOT TOUCH IT WHAT SO EVER.

I can just imagine you walking around.

"Hold on, someone is calling me" *pulls out a bowl of rice*
Good luck with that by the way. I hope there's no permanent damage.
