Replace glass & digitizer without doing LCD?

Hi!

OK so I'm pretty much resigned to buying a complete LCD / digitizer / glass assembly for my 2G, despite it only needing the outer glass layer replacing.

But before I do, is there any mileage at all in considering getting hold of the glass on its own and oh-so-painstakingly removing the broken glass from the existing phone & gluing the new one on?

I've read all the "this looks really really hard" stories, I just wondered if anyone had actually tried replacing the glass only (on a 2G) and whether it's even remotely possible?

My LCD & digitizer are fine, it's only the glass that's broken.

It cant be done, without breaking the LCD.

You have to replace the entire assembly.
