Btw, there is a very thorough guide with like a gazillion pics on iFixit on how to open up the iPhone 3G and change the back cover.

Just ordered mine, I opted for the MMI Blue !!!!! Also went ahead and purchased a 16GB logic board. Figured since I'll have to open it, might as well make it truly worth the effort!

Wow, going all out.

Personally I would have sold the 8gigger and bought a 16 gigger. Would have been ALOT cheaper.

Im almost set on ordering a black cover and going from white to black, im just a little nervous about making the swap.

If you got any engineering/technical background....../seasoned with electronics at all......it aint that bad.

ive fixed some small things like my old razr, but its not near as advanced as the inside of a iphone.

^Biggest thing is not getting in a hurry. Treat everything as glass.

There's not as many parts to take apart as it sounds. Main pieces like the screen assembly, mainboard, battery and dock connector.

Then you've got several smaller items like headphone jack/flex cable assembly, buttons, vibration motor, etc.

But thats basically it.

I payed 6 dollars buy it now, he raised the price to 10 dollars.

Do you think it's a good quality? I just wanted to use the GOLD one. I'll give the other 2 away to anyone here who wants it. We're all family. Just PM me with your name and address and I'll send it to you when I receive it.

Oh yeah I'm keeping my stock white back cover, for warranty purposes obviously. The Black and Gray back covers are up for grabs.

Actually what you ordered is just a "cover" for the back....and not the housing. So your white housing will stay. No need for the toolkit on that one

Quality is prolly ok, like the one I ordered it was decent....obviously not like OEM but for the price worth it.

Yeah, a 16gigger would have been a cool purchase, but financially I am still ahead. I bought my 2g 8gb for 75.00 from a Baylor University new grad who couldn't get used to it (manicured nails). Too bad princess !!!!! And got the 16gb logic board for 115.00 !!!!!!
