the best iOS for the iphone 4s, in my opinion, would be any iOS 5.x.x, provided that the phone is CURRENTLY on that version, with associated SHSH blobs.

the reason is because if the phone ever experiences a big issue, one can always restore back to that iOS that the phone is "currently" on

the best BB is irrelevant as it has nothing to do performance, just unlockability

I dont think there is much benefit to iOS 6 to iOS 5 besides the Maps, which I constantly use..

However, if you're contemplating about which version is best for you to RESTORE to, you're out of luck.

Unless then phone is currently on an iOS 5.x.x version with associated "shsh blobs", you cannot go to any other iOS version besides the one Apple is currently signing, which is iOS 6.1.3.

On iOS 6.1.3, there is no current jailbreak for the iphone 4s

Crud just had a look the thing is on 6.0 OS, would you suggest 6.1.2 in that case?

no, iOS 6.0 is perfectly fine on the iphone 4s..

if you want to jailbreak, visit evasi0n.com and download their jailbreak tool

follow the instructions and within minutes you will have a jailbroken iphone

You cant go to 6.1.2 anyways, you can only go to 6.1.3, but there is no jailbreak for it yet

So apart from the Jailbreak issue with 6.1.2 it would be the best one 2 go for? (if there was a JB for it)

the "best" iOS 6 is whatever jailbreak is currently available for it

in other words, iOS 6.0-6.1.2 is good because there is a jailbreak for it

iOS 6.1.3 is bad because there is no jailbreak for it

So since you are currently on a "jailbreakable" iOS 6.0, I suggest you stay there and jailbreak it ASAP

    you are quite welcome..

please kindly let us know if you have any troubles jailbreaking...

REMEMBER: try to install the most "minimal" amount of Cydia tweaks as possible. If your phone becomes unusable, you will have to go up to 6.1.3, and once again, there is NO jailbreak for it.

So be very careful with what you install on your phone.

There are no unlockable basebands for the iPhone 4S (using only software). The only way it may be done currently is via an IMEI unlock or via use of an interposition SIM device (e.g., a Gevey).

I have already mentioned to you that you CANNOT go to iOS 6.1.2 because Apple is not "signing" 6.1.2.

Apple is only signing 6.1.3, but there is no jailbreak for it for the iphone 4s.

You can either stay put on iOS 6.0 and jailbreak, or by all means, update to 6.1.3 and wait for the next jailbreak, if possible, but you CANT go to 6.1.2

you can obtain the SHSH blobs for 6.0.1 by using a program called iFaith (google it) to "dump" the 6.0.1 SHSH blobs.

However, the SHSH blobs are of no use to the iphone 4s unless the phone was on iOS 5.x.x.

You cant obtain any SHSH for any other iOS 6.x.x version except for the latest iOS 6.1.3.

But once again, they are not useful for the iphone 4s.

But I dont understand, why do you want to go to 6.1.2?

You are perfectly fine on iOS 6.0.1 and you can jailbreak on that firmware version.

Ok I can go for jailbreaking on 6.0.1 I tried to use evasion but it crashes each time, also is there anyway to software unlock on this OS or impossible and must use that Gevey you mentioned earlier??

At what stage does evasi0n crash?

You have to use a gevey to unlock the 4S.

However, if the phone was purchased before January 26 of this year, you can get it IMEI unlocked

Ok I managed to get Evasi0n to work so now I have Cydia. Now the person who sold me this Iphone 4S (Again its from the USA) said he owned it for at least one year so it will be easy before Jan 26 of this year, My question is does this process cost me?

I found a link on the net since this was originally with the at&t network

    https://www.att.com/deviceunlock/cli...msAndCondition

Does this look right to you? and how much does it cost roughly?

Ok so I had my friend the original owner of this 4S submit for an unlock via at&t it didn't ask for any money I just hope its accepted however I have another noobie question which might sound retarded to you guys but I need to ask it as it is on my mind.

If I was to say update my 4S to 6.1.3 would I then be able to obtain shsh files for the 4S then use tinyumbrella to pull the shsh files from the 4S then use those to downgrade to any OS for the 4S I want? Or is that not how it works?

    Thanks.
