Default Lost all data after failed upgrade?
    Hi,
I have a friend that has a jailbroken and unlocked iphone 5 ios 6.0+. However, she unknowingly upgraded to the new ios and now her phone is unusable and what makes it worst is that she didn't backup for years. Can't believe her!

    1) Did she lose all her data on her iphone?

    2) Is there anyway to recover her data from her phone? I'm sure it's still on the phone somewhere.

    Thanks.

Only if she had synced her phone with iTunes, then her data can be recovered.

Chalk one up for a hard lesson learned I guess.

Actually, not sure if this makes any difference but her phone is an iphone 4s not iphone 5 like I previously mentioned. Ok anyone can help would be extremely great!

At this point just have her hold the sleep and home button until the apple shows up. Maybe that will do something. Shame on her for never backing up!!

Yes it was very foolish of her not to backup. I kinda doubt that would work but will tell her to give it a shot.

    Nope it didn't work.

That's what figured. I was just going for hope, but knowing the outcome. Looks like a new phone in her near future.

Yeah thanks anyway. The worst part is that she had 3 years of photos, videos, all kinds of data. All gone or stuck in her phone. Needless to say she is very upset right now. In fact, she said she doesn't want to buy an iphone 5s when it comes out. I'm sure there must be a way to break in her phone and retrieve those data somehow. I mean I don't think it's gone right? It's just living in the storage drive now. Come on, somebody out there must know!

What is the current state of the phone? In recovery? Stuck on apple logo?

If its stuck on apple logo she can try to plug it in to a computer and run ifunbox. See if ifunbox can see any of the phones file system. If she is lucky it may and she should be able to copy anything in her camera roll to the computer.

Maybe go on ifunbox and transfer from there.

If so go to media/photodata/metadata/dcim/100apple. I pretty sure that's right.

That would be recovery. You can try to use tiny umbrella to exit recovery but I doubt it will work. Ifunbox won't be able to see anything if the phone is in recovery
