Thread: Is Apple still signing 6.1.2?
03-19-2013, 04:30 PM #1Is Apple still signing 6.1.2?
Is it worth it to update to 6.1.2 from 5.1.1?

Yup, still signing. Just had to restore a phone for a friend yesterday.

Really weird question here...
If I factory restore to 6.1.2 and the ipad sits there, can I use evasi0n anytime, even after the signing hole closes? Or will evasi0n also stop working on 6.1.2 completely? Does it use the apple server / signing as part of its process or am I safe as long as I have factory restored to 6.1.2 manually in DFU mode?
I have an ipad I'm giving as a gift so it's got 6.1.2 on there and is ready to go - However I want the recipient to have the option of a JB. Can we wait as long as 6.1.2 is safely on there or do I have to do it now or never?

They stop signing 6.1.2 so can't restore anymore or you will have to go to 6.1.3
Don't understand the other question sorry.

Basically, let's say I plug the ipad in right now in DFU and clean restore to 6.1.2 and I stop right there. So I have a fresh iTunes-installed 6.1.2.
If I then wait 2 weeks, and plug in the ipad (no iTunes) and run evasi0n, is it going to work, or does evasi0n require the Apple servers to be signing at the time it executes its jailbreak?

Yes you will be good. Doesn't matter if apple goes to 6.2 and you still on 6.1.2 you can still jailbreak it. Just don't update ya firmware and you will be good
