Unlocking a CDMA with a bad imei/esn
I recently bought a Sprint 4s from a friend that broke his contract and now the imei is locked.
I can't find a conventional way to unlock it. The only promising thing I have found is a gevy sim and I can't find much information on how that really works either.
Is there a better way?

Unlocking it for use in the US won't do it any good anyhow. Even after being IMEI unlocked it can only be used in another country. There are mixed responses with this, some believe unlocking it will allow you to use it on any carrier besides the one it was barred on. With CDMA iPhones though, regardless of whether it was barred or not, after official unlocking it still won't be usable in the US until it is activated in another country.
I'd really like a more definitive answer...this much is what I've gathered but I could be wrong. If anybody would like to make any corrections, feel free.

I know with a 4s it doesn't have to be in another country. As long as you unlock it you can use another sim in the vacant slot. Particularly if you use a gevey sim. I jut need more info haha

So you have the gevey, it works, and you still want a software unlock?

I haven't bought one yet. I wanted to do all the research I could before actually spending the money. I'd appreciate any help from you guys though.
I'm looking for the most hassle free, sable unlock for a CDMA.

As far as I can tell from my research a gevey will unlock anything. But as I said I've never used one and I know they cost about twenty bucks. This is what ive found out on my own.
