Hey guys, I got a question.

I am jailbroken on 4.2.1 and I'm still on firmware 4.2.1

is it possible for me to upgrade to 5.0.1 or 5.1 and still be jailbroken?

If yes, how could I do that?

You will need to have the shsh blobs for them firmwares to go to them. If not you will have to go to 6.0.2

Open Cydia, look at the top of main page, SHSH blobs saved will be in a greenish font and will tell you what blobs you have available.
Or use tinyumbrella.

if you really want to be certain download tinyumbrella from here:

MAC: http://cache.firmwareumbrella.com/do....01.01.app.zip

Connect your phone to the laptop or computer, right-click the tinyumbrella program AFTER you unzip it, then make sure to run it as an administrator

Once tinyumbrella detects your iphone, click on "SAVE SHSH" and it will tell you if any shsh are saved

Cydia sometimes does not show certain shsh blobs saved for whatever odd reason that I dont recall at the moment

So your on 4.2.1 and have the blobs saved for that? Sounds like all ya have is them blobs saved. If ya don't have any for 5.0 you will have to update to 6.0
