Alternative method to restore
Hi, I have tryed all methods I found to update my jailbroken ipod touch 4g (FW 4.3.1) to 5.1.1 version to jailbreak it again later.
The problem is that it doesn't matter the method that I use, I always get itunes erros and I can't update it.
I have tried to modify host files, with and without tiny umbrela, iFaith, dfu mode, and any kind of configurations.
Is there some alternative method to update my ipod without itunes? or just restore it to default?Last edited by HEIMDAL13; 10-12-2012 at 05:36 AM.

Normaly I get error 3194. From dfu mode I usually get error 16xx, and with some configurations I also get error 11.
In cydia I have SHSH IOS 4.3.5 and 5.1.1.

Should I delete cydia before I try to restore?

If you restore with no back up that will be ya best bet. And then install ya apps and photos etc threw iTunes and then jailbreak it again. Ya don't want any errors on another Firmware

First of all I downloaded the official firmware 5.1.1, then I connect my ipod in the computer, I launch itunes, Shift+click on restore and then I select the downloaded firmware, then I get the error.
What are blobs?

If I put it in pwned dfu mode and I try to restore it, itunes stays for a while at the step "verifying ipod resore with apple", and finally I get the error 1602.

Maybe the problem is related with the host file... What ip adress should I put?
