I have an iPhone 4, currently on 5.0.1, jailbroken. I have been very lazy & haven't updated in some time, but I now wish to upgrade to 5.1.1 and jailbreak again. I have tried numerous times, but I keep encountering iTunes errors (error 3194, error 11, error 1600, etc.) I searched around and have tried various methods (TinyUmbrella, iREB, editing the HOSTS file), but I cannot get iTunes to update (or restore) to 5.1.1. I have tried this in DFU and Recovery modes, still to no avail. The device has never been above 5.0.1. I am sorta unfamiliar with the whole blobs thing, so I'm wondering if I am unable to update to 5.1.1, since 6.0 is now out? Can someone please help me with this? If any additional information is needed to help answer this, please ask away. I truly appreciate any help given.

Do you have the shsh blobs for 5.1.1?
As it seems you don't and that would be ya wouldn't be able to update ya phone to that firmware.

Thanks for the fast response.
Is there a way to check and see if I have the shsh blobs for 5.1.1? Like I said, I'm not that familiar with the whole blobs thing... Using TinyUmbrella, I had clicked 'Save SHSH', and I do see that 'iPhone4 5.1.1b' is listed in the 'All saved SHSHs' box. (along with 4.3.4, 4.3.5, 5.0.1, 5.1, and 5.1.1). Does this mean I have the blobs? Is there another way to check?
Also, I do see in Cydia at the top it says...
SHSH: iOS 4.3.4, 4.3.5, 5.0.1, 5.1, 5.1.1, 5.1.1r1
So I would assume that I do have the blobs needed for 5.1.1, correct?

Yep you sure do have the blobs you can upgrade to any of them firmwares.

So, now that we've determined that I do seem to have the proper SHSH blobs, how do I proceed with updating to 5.1.1 without getting these pesky iTunes errors? (error 3194, error 11)
When I initially try to update, it gives me the iTunes error 3194.
When I try with TinyUmbrella, it gives me the iTunes error 11.

This is what I do on my 3GS... I think this works for a 4...not 100% sure. Might want to wait for confirmation on that from someone else more experienced with 4.
I'm assuming you do not unlock. You will lose your unlock if you do this exact method.
1. Download stock iOS 5.1.1 IPSW.
2. Download redsn0w 0.9.14b2
3. Run redsn0w as administrator in windows.
4. Click Extras button.
5. Click SHSH blobs button.
6. Click Query button to see what blobs Cydia has for device.
7. If Cydia has required blobs, Click Stitch button.
8. Click IPSW button-browse for downloaded 5.1.1 IPSW file.
9. Click Blobs-Cydia button to stitch remote Cydia stored blobs to IPSW.(or could do local if you have
10. Let Process and finish. It will take a few minutes.
11. Click Back button-Click Pwned DFU to put in pwned DFU mode-follow onscreen instructions.
12. Once in pwned DFU mode, close redsn0w, launch iTunes.
13. iTunes will see device in "recovery" mode. Click Check button.
14. Hold down Shift key, click Restore button. Browse to that stitched IPSW file
you created.Select it.
15.Wait for restore to finish as normal. JB as normal(or not)...Enjoy!

Hey 2K1! So, if someone unlocks on either 3GS or 4, you would have to create a custom NO BB IPSW file with RS first, then point to that IPSW and stitch the blobs right?
