My Iphone 3gs 16gb, gone to restore mode and giving an error 1015 when tried to upgrade.
I tried many suggestions from different blogs and forums, but not succeeded.
I tried with fixrecovery 43 stuff like that. My pc operating system is Windows 7. Now my phone is showing a USB and Itunes logo.
Can any one help me. I am new to this forum.

I am new to Iphone and my jailbroken, unlocked phone(got from e-bay) started to give a problem. When making a call the other party could not hear my voice where as I could hear them. So somebody advised me to upgrade it. With out knowing the consequernces I tried to upgrade it with latest Itunes and I ended up in the recovery loop. I have no idea about Shsh blob but the firmware is 4.1 something like that. I tried tiny umbrella 6.0.1 with Iphone,2,1-6.0_10A403_restore. it says the firmware is not matching. I don't mind losing all the data on my phone. Just I want this to work. If possible please help me.

to find out what shsh blobs you have (this will determine what iOS you can restore to), open tinyumbrella when your phone connected to the computer, and click on SAVE SHSH, it will tell you what blobs the phone has
then you can restore to whatever version the blobs are,

This what I can see in the log file.
save shsh directory. there are two directories. Once is .cache and second is .known_devices
I can't open these two.
All saved SHSH in the tiny umbrella is blank. Nothing is there.
Can I try fixrecovery in the tiny umbrella?

you can try using the recovery fix in tinyumbrella but I'm not if it will work
since you dont have any shsh blobs you would have to upgrade to iOS 6 in itunes
just make sure to check your hosts file for the host entry "126.96.36.199 gs.apple.com", if its there, you have to delete it, then save the hosts file and try again to upgrade to iOS 6

But how to upgrade it to ios 6 with itunes. The phone is in restore mode. Should I download ios 6, then upgrade it?. Is this what you mean?
I downloaded ios 6 and after opening the itune, pressed shift and pointed the ios 6 for restoration. It syas Iphone could not be resored because the firmware file is not compatible.
I have used iPhone2,1_6.0_10A403_Restore file. I did it in normal mode not in DFU.

Thanks EVO. Really appreciate it. I tried " instead of pointing itunes to the 6.0 firmware, let itunes download it for you and restore it automatically" whta you suggested. But result is same. Error 1015. Any other suggestions please.

Just out of curiousity, was this 3GS jailbroken and then unlocked afterwards?
09-26-2012, 06:27 AM #17
In fact I know that this is 3gs 16gb for sure. I presume this was jailbroken and unlocked. The reason I saw Cydia, Icon and cycoder on this phone(though Cycoder was not working). Purchased from US and I was using it in india with local SIM.

It's possible that the ipad baseband was installed on the phone. This would prevent any updating from official ipsw's without modifying them first. If you know what version you had before, you can create an ipsw using redsn0w or sn0wbreeze (for that IOS version) which would not have this problem.

Thanks. But the problem is I don't know what version was there before. Tried to find the installed shsh by using tiny umbrella and it is not detecting any installed shsh. This is where I am stuck. Looks like I have to throw it in to the trash.
