    Default Is APTicket still requred?
When iOS5 first came out there was a lot of emphasis about how we needed to save both the shsh blob and apticket of each firmware, but all the articles since the 5.1.1 jailbreak that tell you to backup in case of a later restore only mention to save blobs. Is the apticket no longer required or is it obsolete or what? if it is still required, what tool will save it? or does Cydia take care of that too?

You can have both, cydia saves blobs, to get aptickets, you have to be on the firmware to save it . If you have either one, you are good to go for future restore.

Tiny umbrella will save your shsh and apticket for whatever the latest firmware is. Right now is a good time to do that for 5.1.1.
Your device does not have to be on 5.1.1 to do this.
