Is this web site slow?
I have blazing fast internet and all pages load almost instantly...except for this one. It takes several seconds to start loading and a minute or so to completely load...Is it the site or do I have something set wrong?

Mine is fine. What browser are you using?

I use safari...tried chrome and it was the same way. I've downloaded MacKeeper and ran it. It's now doing a virus check but the speed is still the same so far.

Have ya ever tried CCleaner or Cleanup? Those can clear up your diskspace and stuff. Makes your computer work alot faster. Defraggler is also a great tool.

That MacKeeper is supposed to do all that.

Must be on your end, loads fast for me too.

When I click "new posts" it loads in just a few seconds but the little wheel keeps spinning in the address bar for about a minute or so. When I click on a new post for a certain thread, the thread loads in a couple of seconds, then I can scroll down to the new post.If I want the browser to open to the new post I have to wait for the spinning wheel to stop. Then it will jump to the new post...pretty aggravating.

Try clearing your browsers cache.
05-05-2012, 01:34 PM #15
I did...I used that MacKeeper that cleans all caches (supposedly) and even reset Safari.
It's happening on all forums not just this one. All other web sites load very quickly...wonder why forums are acting that way?

Maybe because of ads or the amount of stuff it has to generate. Mine is just slightly slower for forums than it is with regular webpages. You aren't alone...

This is not just slow...it's creeping and it just started. It's kinda weird ...for example, when i click a the new post icon in a particular thread the page opens in a couple of seconds but it doesn't open at the new post as it should but at the top of the page. The little wheel in the address bar keeps spinning.I can scroll down to the new post while the wheel is spinning...If i wait till the wheel stops spinning it will jump down to the new post as it should.I timed the spinning wheel...it's about 80 seconds.

On my nieces PC laptop, I see what you mean. It loads, but not completely as you said. Takes 30-40 seconds to load using Firefox.
On my Macs, no issue. Weird.

hmm, this is interesting. one thing could be, someone or multiple users could be posting on that thread, so the server could trying to keep up with all the action at the same exact second. could be one thing.
another is, if you save your cache for any site, it will open a lot faster. as long as not many changes have been made. that is the purpose of the cache. something else to think about, is if you are on cable internet, comcast or whatever. you are sharing a large bandwidth , with your surrounding neighbors. if your on dsl. your internet should be consistent. the comparison is like this. cable = being on the freeway, when your rolling…its real fast. when you have a traffic jam, everyone is slowed down. dsl= your on private frontage road, where you have the road all to yourself, but the top speed is 45 mph. just a little food for thought.
catside, if you really wanna know, then go into your utilities folder, open network monitor, and activity monitor. and compare on different sites, and on different times of day or night. hard to make any assumption without all of the statistics or specs of what you are using and doing bro.
hope everyone is enjoying their weekend
