    Default Iphone 4 upgrade
Hello, I am very.. very new to this kind of stuff.
When I got my Iphone, a friend did the jailbreaking for me but now I would like to do it myself and I have a very important question that I really need answering!

I am running on version 4.3.1 and I want to upgrade to the latest IOS.
By upgrading, will I lose the already installed Cydia apps and is it possible to recover them?
I have quite the number of apps that I even bought off Cydia and well.. losing them / having to repurchase them would be quite irritating.

    Please help me out!
    Thanks!!

your purchased cydia apps can be re-installed again for free as long as it's the same phone. i had mywi installed when i was on 4.01. then when i upgraded to 5.0.1, i went to purchase the app again and it was recognized that i already paid for the app.

    I see..
Is there a way to like.. backup the apps and then restore them after the update has been made or do I have to manually re-install each app that I had?

You gonna have to reinstall them all again. But won't have to download them.

Hi again, I have another question if that's okay!

I am running on 4.3.1 as I said at the start of the thread.. and apparently I can't find any way to update to 5.0.1.
It only lets me upgrade to 5.1 but as far as I`ve read, 5.1 does not have an unthethered version yet..
Could anyone possibly tell me how to get my iphone upgraded to 5.0.1 please?

*Also* I downloaded from Downloads for iPhone, iPad, iPod and Apple TV the 5.0.1 update but it will do nothing but open my Itunes and then do nothing..

Then you can upgrade or downgrade to any of them.

But how? In Itunes, I can upgrade to 5.1.. that's easy, but then how do I downgrade to 5.0.1 so I can jailbreak it?

You can go to any of those firnwares...those are the same I have

Just save them with TU and stitch those ipsw with redsnow. And restore using that firmware

Okay, I`m rather confused now. I have to say it again that I never done anything like this before, meaning that this is the first time in my life that I`m trying anything like this so.. I have redsnow, but then the part with 'TU' which I have no idea what it is, same with ipsw confuses me a lot ^^

Ok, TU is tinyumbrella. A quick google search should cone up with the download links. Same with redsnow.

In TU click save shsh with the phone plugged in. Then go to extras- stitch- blobs in redsnow and point it to the 5.0.1 shsh file.

Btw, download the ipsw, which is the furmware for the device from this site. In the downloads tab.
