Default Iphone 4 ios 5.1 stuck in DFU not responding to ireb, broken power button HELP!!!
I've got an iphone 4 with a broken power button. Was running 4.3 jailbreak without issue. Was able to unlock through att and decided to upgrade to ios 5.1 tethered. Upgraded to 5.1 without issue. Used the trick to get the phone into a dfu loop. Attempted to jailbreak with Redsn0w. Appeared to run without issue, however after reboot, still in DFU. Attempted to run Redsn0w recovery fix and recieve "usb communication problem" error. Attempted to use iReb to put into pwnd DFU and then restore from itunes. Recieve 1601 error.

At this point what are my options? I'm i stuck until i get the powerbutton fixed?

you can try using tinyumbrella, and if it recognizes your phone you can try "Exit Recovery"

... Otherwise you'll have to do everything over again most likely.

thank you both. tinyumbrella was a great help. i was able to restore. unfortunately due to the broken power button, i was unable to boot the tethered jailbreak using redsnow. should have upgraded to 5.0.1 when i had a chance.

Yah lol. Take your iPhone to an Apple store and see what they'll do. Sometimes they'll just do it for free.

Hmmm...I thought there was a limit to number of replacements...at least in US...maybe I'm wrong..but I thought I heard one of the apple genius people say something about that when I got this one...this is my second replacement...

A guy I know dropped his in a toilet and they replaced it for free. Gave him a brand new iPhone 4, no charge. Simply amazing

i'll give it a try, although i've already replaced the screen once on the phone and i'm not the original owner. to say i'd be pleasantly surprised if they replaced it would be an understatement.
