Could you be any more vague? Is it jailbroken on 5.0.1 for starters?

Ok, in that case yes it's possible Save your shsh locally to your computer & then stitch it to a 5.0.1 Ipsw... This'll mean that you'll always be able to restore that way.

To store them, use one of many program's to fetch your shsh... Redsn0w, tinyumbrella, ifaith... Anything like that... Then use sn0wbreeze, pwnagetool redsn0w to stitch it.

TinyUmbrella to fetch the shsh & save locally, redsn0w to stitch the locally saved shsh.

Under extras in redsn0w you have all the options to stitch locally saved shsh.

    Question Also on 4S?
All I want to do the same thing. I'm on a jail broken iPhone 4S 5.0.1 and would like to restore to 5.0.1 then re-jailbreak. Same procedure?

    Thanks, trifster

Your on a 4S.... NOT possible as the exploit is different on A5 as opposed to A4 processors.

As far as to say, your stuck on 5.0.1 for now. If you try to do anything, you'll loose the jailbreak & be stuck on 5.1 as a forced upgrade.

Thanks Susty. Confirmed my understanding of the exploits in use. Not a big deal for me to sight tight until the geniuses work on a new round of jailbreaks.

    Thanks, Trifster

It's important to note that you must create a NO_BB firmware to stitch to first. Per the Jailbreakqa...

    Default 5.0.1 in DFU
Well, today I installed something in Cydia that apparently was not compatible with 5.0.1 and my iPhone 4 went into an endless reboot loop. I've been able to get it into DFU mode, but I cannot restore to my old 5.0.1 firmware. I've hit pretty much all the errors (1600, 1601, 1602, 3194, 2005, etc). I've tried restoring on multiple machines, with TinyUmbrella running and not....no dice. I really don't want to lose my untethered jailbreak, so I'm not ready to bite the bullet and just restore with 5.1.

    Any ideas/magic bullets?

I'll try again, but earlier, iFunbox was not seeing my iPhone in its current state.

Yeah, just as I thought: iFunBox does not recognize my phone in its current state.

I've tried everything I can think of. Currently have modified hosts file to point 74.208.10.249 and getting an error 1601. I'm on the brink of biting the bullet and going to 5.1 and losing my JB.

You're gettig thise errors because you cant Restore anymore to iOS 5.0.1. Only 5.1.

You can restore and stay in 5.0.1 only if you have the shsh saved

I do have the SHSH saved, but I can't seem to get it recognized. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.
