Default iPhone repair - 3GS with 06.15.00 - will they notice?

    Hey,

I dropped my iPhone 3GS a few weeks ago and it's developed a slight fault, if any pressure is applied at all to the top corner it will switch off silent. While it may be minor, it is very annoying when it buzzes from my pocket (to tell me it's been put back onto silent) and rings when I've put it on silent.

I've been to the shop I bought it from and they said the best bet would be to send it off for a repair...My question is, if I put the stock SIM back in and restore, are they likely to know I've unlocked the device (because of the baseband)?

Since it is purely a hardware problem, I'm wondering if they will even check that?

Yes.. What they may attempt to do is flash the phone after just to make sure the firmware isn't going to play up... They'll get an error & modem firmware will tell them 6.15.00. A lot of places like to flash them for safety sake.

Just take it apart and replace the switch. It's easy and cheap if you just do it yourself.
