Wrong generation iPod software
Hi everybody,
I've got a weird problem with my third generation iPod Touch. When I was younger, I wanted to jailbreak my iPod but there was no good jailbreak available at that moment, so I tried to downgrade my iPod. This didn't work with the 3th generation 3.1.3, so I tried the 2nd generation software, which did work.
But now, when I want to upgrade to iOS 5, it's impossible because iTunes still sees my 3G iPod as 2G. I already tried to manually downgrade by bringing it in recovery mode and shift+click reset, but then I get an error that says " the software is not compatable with your device". Totally reseting didn't work either. So has anybody a solution for this problem?
Thanks in advance,
Dennis

Only thing I can think of is put it into recovery mode and goest an appointment for Apple to fix it, don't tell them what you did

The only explanation is ur iPod is a 2g and not a 3g. One device firmware CANNOT ever be installed on another device. U r under a wrong perception.
