Default Japanese iPhone 3G Jailbroken - No Service in UK

Hey guys, I'm a newbie to iPhones/apple speak so please spell it out if you can help.

I have an iPhone 3G to the following spec that was brought back from Japan and would like to use in the UK.

    Spec as follows:
    Device Model: MB496J/A - iPhone3G
    Firmware: 4.1
    Baseband: 06.15.00-5.8_M3S2

The phone originally gave the Sim Not Recognised Screen when pluged unto iTunes and was on v.3.1.3 (I think).

Since then I have restored the phone to ipsw (iPhone1,2_4.1_8B117) using itunes which failed giving error 1015 message.

Despite the error Tinyumbrell confirmed the firmware was 4.1.

I then ran redsnow 0.9.8b4 (using windows 7 64 bit) and the phone appears to be have been successfully unlocked. It now functions as an iTouch with wifi etc work fine.

I have inserted the UK sim and it does not recieve any service. Am I missing a step on the jailbreak process?

I have tried putting into airplane mode etc... then re inserting the sim, but it does not work.

    Thoughts/help much appeciated!

    Jon
