Basically starting over..
I have an iphone 3gs and then had someone jailbreak/unlock it, I now have it on tmobile. Unfortunately they left it as version 3.1.3 and its on firmware 05.12.01. I can no longer get him to do it, seeing as Im in a different city, so Im looking for what I need to update/jailbreak/re-unlock it.
I dont know what I'm doing, I'm a fast learner, cant understand directions and follow them easily.
Im hoping one of you will throw the links to the forum on here, but just a step (doesnt have to be in detail, I can read up on how to do each thing) process I need to go through. I dont want iOS 5, just 4.0 at the very least and whatever is easiest. Thanks in advance.

Why not go with iOS 5? Just curious. Dealing with iOS 4 means you'll have to go find out if you have SHSHs, try to utilize them if available, etc. Going to 5.0.1 would probably be easiest, unless you'll settle for iOS 4.1 if SHSHs aren't available or you don't want to use them if they are.

Id rather not deal with the tethering every time it died, which wouldnt be often but still...What do you think is my best option? just tired of running 3...want some apps and such.
