I jailbroke and unlocked a 3GS on 5.0.1, and all went smooth, so I figured I would upgrade to an iPhone 4 and do the same process. But I think I am stuck.
The phone is being delivered today, and it has baseband 4.11.08
I know this is not jailbreakable. but I can downgrade to 4.10.00- BUT this is not unlockable, yes?
(I have T-Mobile)
So I am just clarifying my idiocy;
THERE IS NO WAY ON EARTH (MINUS GEVEY) TO UNLOCK MY PHONE FOR TMOBILE?
I can't simply download a 1.59.00 or iPad baseband, and configure it with PwnageTool?
After all, they do build custom firmware- do the new basebands lock themselves to the phone or something?
If anyone can help, please do. I am tight on money and need to know if I should sell my 3GS or 4
You have it backwards. It indeed IS jailbreakable. It is not unlockable. Not even with Gevey. Not yet anyways, that could change someday. You cannot downgrade basebands. You can save current basebands when upgrading yourself. Highly recommended.
You cannot downgrade Baseband. So you are stuck on 4.11.08. No ultrasn0w unlock for this baseband and gevey sim will not work for this baseband either.
