Default Cydia missing after iTunes restore. Updated to 5.0.1 using redsn0w.

I had updated my 3GS from 5.0 to 5.0.1 using redsn0w 0.9.10b3 and custom IPSW. Everything updated fine and iPad BB was maintained as expected. However when I went to sync my phone with iTunes to get my contacts/apps/etc back it deleted Cydia.

Before I updated to 5.0.1 I did a custom backup and this backup is what I was trying to restore to.

Any ideas what i'm doing wrong?

you need to rejailbreak. your restore with custom ipsw doesnt preserve jailbreak itself, it preserves the baseband. use redsnow to jailbreak and youll have cydia again.

So if I just select "Jailbreak" from the main redsn0w window (Jailbreak and install Cydia). I should be good to go? It wont overwrite the BB?

Correct. redsn0w custom IPSW doesn't package Cydia with the restore like sn0wbreeze/pwnagetool.

After that will I be able to restore/synch with iTunes to get my contacts, apps, etc back without iTunes removing Cydia?

Dumb question I know... but I feel like i've done this before and iTunes wiped Cydia off...

I would restore all your contacts/apps/etc THEN jailbreak. Syncing shouldn't do anything to affect the jailbreak, but it sounds like from your first post that it mightve for you...?
