Ok I have my iphone 4 that was on 5.0.1 that I bought new in December I have had it hooked up to itunes making ringtones before I did the jailbreak with redsn0w 0.9.10.b4. So I went ahead and did the jailbreak and the phone works great. I have even made some nice changes like adding a new slide lock and a new home screen and lock screen. I've added Corona 5.0.1 untethered which I downloadeded from Cydia. So I guess what I'm worried about is that I see alot of post about using something about SHSH which I'm don't know what that is and I'm wondering if I have messed up my phone if a new update from my carrier comes out OTA. When I go into settings and go to about it showes I'm on 5.0.1
(9A405) Model MD439LL Firmware 3.0.03 I have connected to itunes a couple of times and synced the phone. So what else do I need to do to keep the phone safe? Sorry about the long winded question.
Tiny umbrella is a program for your computer. It will save your shsh files to your computer and to cydia's server for safe keeping. It is separate to iTunes.
SHSHs are saved to allow you to restore to any firmware version that you save SHSHs for. Except for Verizon phones. Apparently downgrading to iOS 4 with SHSHs with an updated baseband doesn't allow activation.
If not on Verizon then that is not relevant.
You should save your SHSHs now. You can do so as someone else said, with TinyUmbrella.
Simply download it from thefirmwareumbrella.blogspot.com and run the program. Then select to "Save SHSHs" and that's it. It should grab SHSHs for 5.0.1 if you have not saved SHSHs prior to this. If you have inadvertently, you may have more than 5.0.1 saved.
I'm curious...OP, u said u JB with RS 0.9.10b4, and were fine..then u applied corona?...that is not necessary and may cause issues..is that what was done?...
are you sure about that xbox? on dev team blog they say:
Update #4: As usual, you can choose to install the fix either by re-running redsn0w over your existing jailbreak (de-select Cydia if you do that), or by installing the corona package from Cydia (it’s the same set of files no matter which way you choose).
theyre saying if you jailbroke with an older version b3 or prior then you can either re-jailbreak with b4 to get new fixes or install corona through cydia
