Default Can I Upgrade iPhone 3G To 5.0.1 & Jailbreak It?

I'm sorry guys if the answer is really obvious but I can't seem to find it, I'm sick and I have medicine head, and I just need someone to feed me the answer this time. I've got an old iPhone 3G that I'm using as a demo phone at work, it's got ver 4.2.1 on it and it's jailbroken. I need to use Exchange and it requires the next version up, so I figured why not go to ver 5. However everything I've found by Googling I can't seem to find anything that talks about ver 5 on 3g, is that possible? If so are we talking redsn0w, greeposi0n, corona? If someone could just point to me to a tutorial link, I would be greatly appreciative!

From how the iPhone 3G slowed down with 4.X they are probably right on this one.

iPhone 3GS aren't too expensive nowadays. Wouldn't be costly nor a bad idea to upgrade to it and sell that 3G if iOS 5 is vital for you.
