3GS Wont Restore????
3GS 32G 4.1 iPad BB old bootrom JB and unlocked trying to upgrade to 5.0.1. Downloaded 5.0.1 FW and new redsnow (10) from here and cooked up a cfw choosing no for the bootrom question and all seemed to go well. When I go to restore in itunes it makes it 80% of the way though Restoring iPhone Software screen and it just stops??? Tried different FW, cooks, ports on Win XP puter and nothing seems work. Any ideas boys?????

I remember I had to rebuild custom IPSW 4 times before the restore would actually work. First time went to 25%, second and third ipsw went to 50% and my 4th custom ipsw worked.
Do all the Custom IPSW's stop at 80%? If so, maybe your original 5.0.1 IPSW was corrupted while downloading?Last edited by b0bab0i; 01-13-2012 at 01:58 PM.

You restore stops halfway without an error , right ?
If you have wifi sync installed on your computer, uninstall it and try restoring again.Last edited by iYeow; 01-13-2012 at 03:26 PM.

Usually, a restore halts is due to wifi sync. But you said you don't have it installed , try a different computer.

It is a tower without any wifi capabilities, is wifi sync part of a different program?

Is a program you install on your computer to sync over the air. It only works on Mac OSX not on a pc.

If you don't have wifi sync installed, then don't worry about it. Try and turn off firewall or reinstall Itunes to see if it works. It could also be due to USB cable.
