Help needed from an iPhone whizz! (iPhone 3g)
Hello!
I took on the job of unlocking my girlfriends iPhone 3G so that she could use a different network/carrier.. and something seems to have gone wrong! I followed the steps, etc.. but now it just says 'No Service'. I think the phone was successfully unlocked but it won't let the signal come through.
It's an iPhone 3g, version 4.2.1 with baseband 05.15.04 and has Cydia and Fuzzyband installed.
It was previously (or still is?) locked to O2 (UK) but we're trying to put in a 3 (Three) sim card.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Any sort of 'things to try next'... etc..
Thanks again.

uhh.. fuzzy band doesnot unlock. It justs help downgrading the baseband for old iphone 3g.(5.08 booloaders)
Do one thing.
Download f0recast and tell me what it shows OR even fuzzy band would tell you your bootloader.
Tell me if its 5.08 Or not.
We will continue after that.. dont worry. it will start working
She call me Mr. Boombastic say me fantastic, touch me in me back

Same as above, but sometimes when jailbreaking, it disrupts signal for some reason... Usually rejailbreaking fixes it so try that. If not, what steps diid you follow exactly?
iphone 3gs - old bootrom - ios 5.0.1 - jailbroken (untethered)
No sig spam, please read rules - thanks!

Hello, thanks for the reply. Just downloaded f0recast and here's the results:
Baseband: 05.15.04
Bootloader: 5.9
Jailbreakable: Yes
Unlockable: No
Untethered: Yes
How does that sound? The 'steps' I followed where pretty much the same everywhere I looked.. I had to hold down the home button at the same time as the power button for 10 seconds, etc.. I can find them again if you need to know?
Thanks again.

If your phone is acutally an O2 locked iPhone, I've heard that you can just call O2 Customer Support, give them your IMEI, pay £15 and they will put your phone on Apple's white list. Your phone will be unlocked forever without ever having to be jailbroken or messing with software.

I just wanted to see your bootloader.
Ok time for some knowledge spreading :
1) Fuzzy band doesn't unlock . It's for downgrading baseband for the phones with the oldest 5.08 or 5.8 bootloader ( don't remember
)
2)you have a baseband that's not unlockable.
So that leaves you with two options :
1) ask o2 to unlock it for u.
2) update to iPad baseband . BUT. You will loose your gps you won't ever get to a normal baseband again.
Choice is yours . :-)

Right, ok.. (thanks for the replies by the way!)
I've just switched back to the o2 sim card to find that there's 'No service' on that either *sigh*.. this wasn't the case before I tried to unlock it myself so I've definitely done something wrong lol =/ ..because I was going to stick the o2 sim back in, ring customer services and go from there but that's out the question now..
IF I update to iPad baseband.. and subsequently lose the GPS.. will I still be able to use 3G? i.e. open up Safari, go to Google, and use Google Maps that way?
Thanks again.

Do a normal Restore to 4.2.1 and see if the o2 sim still works.
If it does, then call o2 Customer service.
