To upgrade to 5.0.1 from 4.1 or not?

I am currently running an iPhone 4, 4.1 iOS with 2.10.04 BB with a Gevey Ultra unlock.
I have 4.1 iSO iFaithed because the earliest shsh I have is 4.3.4 through 5.0.1, all on TinyUmbrella.
I would like to upgrade to 5.0.1 but with the current Gevey unlock issues I’m in no hurry. If I wait and Apple releases 5.0.2 and crushes the current jailbreak will I still be able to upgrade to 5.0.1 using TinyUmbrella +custom ipsw built with redsn0w?
I know I could pre 5.0. I have done it with the 4.X iOS’s on 3GS phones I have and have restored my iP4 with iFaith on 4.1. What I’m not sure about is if this can still be done with iOS 5.X or not. I have read a few posts that say I could downgrade from a 5.X to a 4.X as long as I have the shsh blobs saved but you cannot downgrade from 5.0.1 to 5.0.0. So I have to assume you would not be able to downgrade from 5.0.2 (or whatever it is numbered) to 5.0.1 and if I don’t act before Apple does, I will lose the opportunity to get 5.0.1 jailbroken.
Can someone please confirm or deny this?
If the only way to save 5.0.1 is to custom ipsw to it, iFaith it and then downdrade back to 4.1 I will but it’s a lot of work and risk if I don’t have to.

Ah, a long post. Let me answer all your questions

Yes, you should be able to use Tiny Umbrella with a custom .ipsw from Redsn0w ( or sn0wbreeze or Pwnage Tool).

You can downgrade from iOS 5 (any firmware version) to iOS 4 ( any firmware version), but you cannot downgrade between different iOS 5 versions (ex. 5.0.1 cannot downgrade to iOS 5.0).

I'm having some difficulty understanding this. Don't you already have you iOS 5.0.1 SHSH (based on your earlier discription)? If you do, you don't need to worry about upgrading to iOS 5.0.1, than downgrading it back to iOS 4.1. Just obtain the SHSH from Cydia using Tiny Umbrella. To make sure you
Have the SHSH, open Cydia on your iPhone 4 and swipe all the way down to see what SHSH blobs you have. If you do it now, you will get the SHSH for iOS 5.0.1

I have the saved shsh blobs for 5.0.0 and 5.0.1 from TinyUmbrella and iFaith. I am still running 4.1 however.
Looks like I should upgrade to 5.0.1 and then save a signed ipsw in iFaith just to be safe.
Who knows, if Gevey is not to much trouble I will just stay with 5.0.1
