"Other" space taken up

Just wondering how can I find out what/where the "Other" disk space (as shown in iTunes) taken up on the iPhone is, or how can I free that up, its up to almost 2GB now.

Cydia/JB stuff. Restoring from backup frequently can cause this buildup. I normally just do a clean restore and set up as new, then jb as normal and that frees up all that space.

I don't know if there's any other way, but that's just what I do. If anybody else has another solution, that'd be great to hear.

Yeah I wish there is an app on cydia that can scan for JB junk files and delete.
Deleting everything just takes too much time with 20gb+ of music, some of which would need to be re-encoded.

Never tried this, somebody said it worked, don't know if it's true lol. I did some googling and there are quite a few links that have possible solutions and discussions on this issue. So if a clean restore isn't the way you want to go...you know.

Yeah this is a good question. I thought "Other" just meant Cydia stuff but then again I wouldn't think Cydia take up 700MB of my iPhone 4? I don't have any cracked apps or anything. The only thing I have from Cydia is Zephyr and WeeKillBackground.

What iOS u on?...5.x takes up a ton of other compared to 4.2.1....other is iOS, settings, email, texts, stored app data, album art, etc....sometimes sync/database corruption can cause music or pics to end up as other, but like I said, 5.x takes slot of other...I JUST restored down to 4.2.1 from 5.0.1....other back to where it should be...with 5.0.1 it grows fast..I had done a fresh restore on 5.0.1 yesterday and my other was at 1.2 gb and I wasn't even JB yet..

Well if u don't see any pics or music missing it's most likely just 5.x being a storage hog...like I said...I have 3GS and I had just done a fresh restore on 5.0.1 with my 11gb music and 7 gb movies, contact, calendar, notes, and around 10-12 apps synced back n I had 1.2gb of other..wasn't even JB yet...I JB w RS 10b3 n it was sucking battery too fast..I had been on 4.3.3 for a while b4 going up to 5.0...didn't like it plus lockinfo wasn't updated yet so I went back..I just don't think 5.x plays well storage wise on 3GS...it ran fine..but I didn't like How it was playing..

Even 4.3.3 is a storage hog..more than 4.2.1...more features=more space...4.2.1 was best on 3GS I always say..I had dumped my shsh blobs with ifaith on 4.2.1 while it was working n built an ifaith IPSW...I then tried to do fresh restore on that ver..didn't work. I was stuck going up to latest untethered of 4.3.3.. I think my other on that got up to .82gb...then I tried 5.0..didn't like, back to 4.3.3...then tried 5.0.1 a bit after it came out..liked it, JB on RS tethered..the whole time on 5.x seeing alot of other and space reporting bouncing back n forth between other-free-pics-vids...pissing me off..restored 5.0.1 no JB..still seeing dumb storage issues..decided to go back to 4.3.3 again. Decided to try n build another 4.2.1 with latest ifaith from 4.2.1 blobs..restored to that, IT WORKED! I'm back on the best iOS on 3GS!..don't think I'm going up again..Other back to normal...everything back on with .29gb Other...sorry so wordy but that's me...
