    Default iTunes error (-120)

I am on. GSM iPhone 4 and can back up and sync with no issues. However, I am trying to update from 4.3.3 to 5.0.1. The backup process starts and runs 5-7 minutes then I get error (-120) and if I continue all contents will be erased. Has anyone else had this happen or know how to correct this?

I don't think I've ever seen a 3 digit error before in iTunes. Are you sure it's -120? If so, does it describe further what the problem was? Like a connection problem...or?

It is (-120) and says "there was a problem backing up this iphone. Contuining will erase all contents of this phone. I have no problems syncing and backing up, this error only occurs when I go to update to 5.0.1 and I itunes does a automatic backup at the beginning of the update process. My hosts file is correct, my backups are stores properly on my windows 7 PC. After it updates I'll be restoring from a backup anyway, so I may just try going into dfu mode and updating that way. Just don't want to get stuck at the end of the update process.

Try not allowing it to auto backup. I had a similar issue with that too. I disconnected the device before it could backup. Then manually load the backup onto your device by going into iTunes, right-click device, and select restore from backup.

How I disable auto backup during the update process? That's the 1st thing iTunes does when you select 'update'. I already have iTunes configured to not auto sync when the phone is connected to iTunes.

Oh you meant before the actual restore. Yeah I wasn't talking about the same thing.

So what's the problem of its creating a backup? Are you saying it doesn't backup properly so it doesn't proceed to restore or?
