iPhone 3GS (iOS 5.0.1) Baseband 5.16.05 - Is there an untethered Jailbreak ?
I ve read so many conflicting articles which say u have to downgrade the baseband to iPad before i can jailbreak and then some of them mention it can be done without changing the baseband and risking loosing ur GPS n etc. Not sure what to believe and the safest way to do it ?
Can someone guide me whats the best option i have for an Untethered Jailbreak for my 3GS iPhone.
Greatly Appreciated !

I jailbroke mine last night (IP3Gs) had to upgrade iOS to 5.0.1 since I was running 5.0. My BB before iOS update, after iOS update and after jailbreak is 05.16.05
redsn0w 0.9.10b1 is now available and is untethered for all non-A5 products running iOS 5.0.1
So you should not have to worry about your BB.If I happen to help you in any minuet way, please hit the "Thanks" button.

If you are on 5.16.05 you still cannot unlock the phone.
If this phone was manufactured after Week 35 of 2011(after August 2011), you can't do anything to the phone since apple changed the hardware.
Post the first 5 digits of your iPhone serial if you dont know how to check the manufacture date.
After this, you should downgrade the to iOS 4.1, install jailbreak with RedSn0w 0.9.6rc18 (NOT the latest version), then install iPad BB. Run Cydia and install Ultrasn0w.
Warning: Installing iPad BB has a chance to mess up your GPS & void warranty.Last edited by b0bab0i; 01-10-2012 at 10:50 AM.

Use redsn0w & when you get to the tick boxes, don't select "fetch iPad baseband".Redsn0w relies upon the fact that you are using stock iOS, therefore generally it won't touch the baseband unless you specifically ask it to do so.
Only if you want to unlock the phone to other carriers/networks would you have to do anything with the baseband. Hope that helpsLast edited by Susty; 01-15-2012 at 08:36 AM.

You just read the instructions on how to throw it into DFU mode. It says to hold power for 3 seconds then homebutton + power for 10 seconds, then release power button and while still holding home button. After that it should instantly go into DFU Mode.
The screen should say exploiting with limera1n or some crap then you see matrix codes on your phone. After its a pineapple loading screen. Process takes about 3-4 minutes.Last edited by b0bab0i; 01-15-2012 at 11:46 AM.
