    Default 3GS on 4.3.3 06.15.00 Jailbreak/Unlock to IOS5

    Hello All!

Hoping I might be able to make the transition to iOS5. As the topic title says, I am currently running a 3GS on 4.3.3 (8J2) with firmware 06.15.00 and iBoot-359.3.2 (new bootrom). Is it possible to have an untethered jailbreak with an unlock? If so, how would I go about doing it? Thanks a ton!

Use the latest pwnage tool to make a custom 5.0.1 and restore to that in iTunes.

I did the custom then restored in itunes. However, when I turned it on it says I don't have a valid sim and won't let me past that "welcome" screen to the splash screen..... what is the matter?

You need a sim card from whatever carrier the phone is locked to activate first. If you dont have one just run the latest redsnow over it to hactivate it.

    Are you saying redsn0w hacktivates????

i thought it was only snowbreeze that could hacktivate?

im positive redsn0w doesnt. for the last day and a half i have been struggling because i have to create a custom 5.0.1 in snowbreeze (ticking the hacktivate box while doing so) restore that, then just stay untethered. if i use corona, or try and run the latest red snow over the top to untether it doesnt work.

my ideal scenario would be using the latest redsn0w to jailbreak and install cydia and for it to hacktivate me also, but im 100% positive it doesnt.

    but your saying it does?

where is the option for it, or where does it mention hacktivating?

Why would you choose to deactivate? You need to activate. Run redsnow and choose the option to jailbreak. Then choose none of the options in the second part.

Of course redsnow hactivates. Always has. You just run the jailbreak by installing cydia or even choosing no options. Redsnow automatically detects if the phone is activated or not and hactivates if need be.

Redsnow, pwnage tool and snowbreeze are all capable of hactivating.

Okay perfect. Finally worked. For some reason I am having trouble doing the unlock. I went into cydia. Added http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com/ and it tries to update the source but I keep getting POSIX: Operation timed out

You dont need to add that source. It is one of the preinstalled ones in cydia. Just refresh your sources and ultrasnow should show up. Everything may be really slow right now though, I know a bunch of repos were down yesterday because of the new jailbreak. May have to give it time to come back up.

ok, so your saying if i right now stock restore to the 5.0.1 ios using itunes, then use the latest redsn0w which is the untethered 5.0.1 version, press jailbreak and install cydia, then at the tickboxes only tick install cydia.......

when it goes through it all and comes on i WONT have an activation screen???

so far for me the only way to avoid this activation screen has been to create a custom firmware with sn0wbreeze.

i dont want to call you a liar, but im 99.9% sure if i do what i described above it wont work, but your saying it will yes??

gimme conformation so i can go for it, lol.

retep222 just did it, trust me redsnow does hactivate, always has. You only need to use snowbreeze if you need to preserve your baseband or if you have 6.15 baseband. Never restore to stock firmware if you have 6.15 baseband.

would me being on baseband 06.15.00 have anything to do with it? i restore to stock 5.0.1 and it tries to give me the correct baseband for that firmware but im stuck on 06.15.00 and thats why i get an activate message even after redsn0wing i think?

im about to take the plunge and go for it, ive restoredmore times in the last 2 days than i have in the last year, lol.

Yes, if you have 6.15 baseband restoring to stock 5.X will put your baseband in an unstable state and mess with your activation. Only way to fix it is reflashing the ipad baseband with redsnow. That is why you should always use custom firmware if you have 6.15 installed.

lol, im quite proud of myself, i actually guessed why it wouldnt work, lol. then read your message.

ok, now you can see why im desperate for the updated sn0wbreeze.

hacktivated/untethered all in one, with 6.15.00 onboard!

so im right in saying waiting for that is my best option?

he said earlier on his twitter he has it all ready to release but hes just waiting on the ibooks thing being fixed.
