Hi guys,

I am trying to restore my new bootrom iPhone 3GS(4.2.1) to the 5.0.1 firmware with a custom firmware to preserve my baseband. I keep getting itunes error 11 which I have googled and seems to be a hosts file problem. I opened up the hosts file on my mac and added the line 74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com to the end of the file. After this, I flushed my cache with the command: dscacheutil -flushcache. After this, I pinged and it seemed to be pointing to the right place. However, when I type in gs.apple.com into my web browser , it does not take to an Apple 404 error page or a Cydia page. I try to restore in pwned DFU mode again and it still does not work(Giving me the same itunes error 11).

May someone please tell me how do I properly change my hosts file?
