Won't let me upgrade from 4.3.3 to 5.0.1

Why is this guys ? Do I need a custom ipsw ? trying to upgrade then use redsn0w.

I am iphone 4 on 4.3.3 on BB - 4.10.01

I dont know if you need a custom or not but I just created a custom one with the new redsn0w applied it thru iTunes & jailbroke no problem & BB still @ 4.10.01

Ok I will try it. My friend done hers only a lot of the sources are empty. Like bigboss etc. Why is this ?

No idea servers could be overloaded atm or or maybe theres a few kinks that need to be ironed out still...

Well you can if you dont mind about your baseband being updated..

I just did both mine & my sons & his is having all sorts of Cydia problems while mine is working flawlessly..
His is a new phone with 5.0.1 not a custom IPSW..So seems customs are working better maybe..?

What errors are you getting while trying to update..?

When I try to update normal it gibes me error code 21 and throws me into recovery mode. I then have to use red snow to get out the recovery loop.

Mine did this the first attempt as well so I deauthorized my pc & reauthorized it & shazam upgraded no probs

Right I'm confused. Did you upgrade normally in iTunes or have to use custom Ipsw ?

To use a custom firmware update on Itunes first of all you need to enter on PWNED DFU Mode.... check on the Extras Button there's an option that says "Enter PWNED DFU Mode" Follow the instructions.... and then you will be able to upgrade with iTunes..... on the option where it says "restore" get your mouse there SHIFT + Left Click and it will ask you to select the custom firmware you just created with the method mentioned above n.n Good luck!

I did 2 phones today both iphone 4 I did one by updating thru itunes & one (mine) custom IPSW & mine is the one that had 0 problems..

Preserving your Baseband is only used if you need ultrasn0w to unlock for use with other carriers..

But by deauthorizing my pc it deleted ALL my cydia apps & deleted my backups..Grrrrrrrr

Thats it, I dont need the BB as it is unlocked anyway. But it wont let me update in itunes, just gives me error 21. I did what you said by authorising etc and it still didnt work.

I think apple is jacking with us.... too many 21 codes
