i have an iphone 3gs on 3.1.2 baseband "05.11.07" i wanted to update to 5.0.1 while preserving my baseband. i did all the steps with snow breeze, i put my iphone in to dfu mode so it could go into pwned dfu mode then tried restoring with itunes.
the iphone gives me a blank white screen and then itunes gives me an error 28.
then the iphone does not turn on. i tried holding the power and home button for 20 seconds nothing worked.
in tiny umbrealla i tried clicking the button "fix recovery", gives me a white screen then back to blank black screen.
i tried restoring using the stock 5.0.1 but same result, white blank screen error 28, iphone doesn't turn on. but the iphone is still recognised in itunes and it tells me to restore.
also, i saw this thread "http://www.beijingiphonerepair.com/fix/iphone-3gs-error-28-1600-or-stuck-in-dfu-mode-black-screen-when-restoring-custom-ios-4-2-1-baseband-6-15-00/"
that said to Take apart your iPhone. Remove the logic board and put it to the side for at least 30 minutes. Separating the logic board from the battery clears the memory that handles the boot process. Note: You can also leave your device uncharged for at least 5 days and will give you similar result.
i don't want to open the iphone in case i break it so i was wondering how long does it take the battery to die?
