    Default Restoring Iphone4 requirements

I'm looking to do a full restore on my jailbroken 4.3.3 4.10.01bb phone. Ive been reading a lot about using tiny umbrella to save SHSH blobs and all this other mumbo jumbo. My question is this:

If i do not have any new iphone software ever downloaded to itunes do i need to worry about the restore process updating my firmware/baseband?

It seems all the advice/instructions out there is based on wanting to downgrade from other firmwares back down which I don't need to do. Cydia has saved blobs for me at 4.3.5 and 5.0.1 and when i save blobs on tinyumbrella it says Apple is no longer signing anything before IOS5 therefore i have to just HOPE cydia has my blob saved... However, i also read cydia shsh servers are unreliable or something.

So i'm hoping that i don't even need to worry about blob saving as my computer/itunes HD only has 4.3.3 installed anyway and won't attempt to auto download/install something newer.

The reason this is SO important for me is I'm unlocking my phone with Gevey and cannot afford to upgrade the baseband whatsoever or im totally screwed.

    Thanks for the help!

Just want to clarify that my main reason for restoring is to refresh my device. It's been running slower and id like to rejailbreak and not add so many needless addons.

Another question Ive come up with that i don't see the answer to anywhere is: Is baseband DIRECTLY correlated to firmware? Is there a way for me to upgrade firmware without changing baseband? Baseband is the #1 thing I'm scared of losing. And for course 2nd is the jailbreak itself...

You can restore to custom firmware of 5.0.1 created by snowbreeze 2.8b11

thanks iyeow, ill take that to mean that I cannot restore to anything else previous (other than the 4.3.5 and 5.0 SHSHs that i have from cydia/tinyumbrella)

However I still dont know if that will preserve my baseband at 4.10.01? If it upgrades baseband then my phone unlock will disappear...

Just make a 5.0.1 ipsw using sn0wbreeze as iYeow said. That won't update your baseband.
Some times it's better to follow instructions blindly if trying to understand them confuses you ;-)

Thanks xtacy. Unfortunately I'm way too OCD to follow anything blindly. I HAVE to understand how it works. With this instance I'm choosing to just take your advice (esp after confirming my baseband would be safe), however I've come to find out that snowbreeze is a windows only software.

Redsnow doesn't appear to have the same customized IPSW/baseband preservation of snowbreeze. Correct?

The latest redsn0w does allow you to do that ;-)
