3GS, Can't update to iOS 5, can't restore to previous firmware, 06.15 baseband
So i've got a 4S now, and I'm trying to wipe/restore/upgrade my older 3gs to either sell or give to a relative. If I could, I'd like to make it as close to factory as possible, but since it does have BB 06.15.00 now, if that's not possible that's fine. I just want to clean all the settings. I tried to do that the settings menu, but the phone just stalls at the spinning wheel.
I"ve tried restoring it using the custom 4.3.2 that it had previously, but I'm getting 1600 errors each time. I'd like to put iOS 5, but just as long as all data's off it I'm fine...
Just wanted to see if anyone had a recommendation that would resolve everything I was looking for... Thanks in advanced.

Put iphone into dfu mode.
Restore to stock 4.1 ipsw
Use Exit recovery to kick out error 1015
Activate with official sim
Jailbreak with limera1n or Redsn0w
Unlock with Ultrasn0w from cydia.

Damn that was fast... Giving that a shot now, thank you.
Well it's only on 4.1, but it's working and seems to have erased all data. Just going to run a few recovery tools against it before getting rid of it. Thanks again for the help iYeow. I didn't end up JB'ing the device after restoring 4.1.Last edited by b3tafx; 12-18-2011 at 01:47 PM.
