Updating from 4.3.5 to 5.0.1

my iphone 4 is on ios 4.3.5 tethered jailbreak. I want to upgrade it to 5.0.1 ( heard that its untethered jailbreak will be out soon). Can i upgrade it directly from itunes or is there any need to build custom ipsw using ifaith or something...??

i am having gevey...but i read that inorder to activate using gevey first we need to activate with original sim of the carrier...?

If you update directly in itunes your gevey sim will not work anymore. You need to use the latest version of snowbreeze to make a custom 5.0.1 and restore to that. It will be tethered though if you use cydia.

As other people told you there won't ever be untethered 4.3.5
Use latest sn0wbreeze...

If u use iTunes directly u will loose your unlock...
Update to 5.0.1 by making a custom firmware using that sn0wbreeze. Don't forget to conserve your baseband
