    Default 3gs shutting down .

Hi, im not sure where this should be, whether its software, hardware or JB related. So i'll put it here and see what you think.
I have the seemingly popular problem of 3gs shutting down randomly Its on 4.2.1 with ipad BB, JB'en with Greenpoison over Redsnow ( latest versions ) and UL'ed on Ultrasnow 1.2.4. I have changed the battery 3 times but the first time it was done overseas and when the problem recurred i ordered a new battery and replaced it myself , but i still have this problem .

What im seeing now is the phone works fine from 100-50 % for all phone functions , then it starts to shutdown, especially when making calls or sending texts. Now i have noticed if i remove the sim after 50 % and use apps and use the phone or message services , it does not shutdown. So there seems to be some correlation tween the sim and the battery,...any ideas ?

You could have a faulty/ shorted sim , get a new sim and see if resolves your problem.

Tried a different sim and with 60% battery it too shutdown. Guess i will try the original battery again and see what happens .

So im guessing from the lack of responses that this is a very uncommon problem. While there seems to be stacks of people who have Iphone shutdown problems narrowing it to hardware other than battery seems out of the ordinary.

Actually i guess this should be in the Hardware section, so if a mod want s to move it.......

One of the ways totell if it's hardware is to restore the phone to stock firmware(set up as new phone only) and use it. If it doesn't shut down then jailbreak it, if it still doesn't shut down restore your back up from iTunes. That'll rule out in order hardware, jailbreak, and finally your backup. If it turns out to be your back up your going to have to restore and setup as new again.

Have restored to custom and followed the same process but as im on 4.2.1 with 6.15.00 New boot, i havent gone the process of downgrading with SHSH to StocK 4.1 restore . Im kind of semi convinced its a hardware prob as without a sim the phone has no problems. But with a sim once the phone gets below 50-60 % i get shutdown when i use the phone app. After shutdown and with sim in will generally only reboot powered. No sim and it will boot on its own and run till battery drains playing games or music etc. Does that still sound like software ? I wish it was cause that would be a lot easier to deal with and cheaper....Ive got my 3rd new battery coming soon , i dont hold much hope for that as a resolution, thank god they are cheap.....Thanks .
