need help with restore

ok so i posted this on another thread to get help and the person who started helping me didnt finish so here goes:

so i have my iphone 4 jailbroken on 4.1, but now that it is outdated and i cant run apps ive decided to upgrade to a 4.3.3 jailbreak. i have backed up my phone, music photos etc. i am in the process of downlaoding the custom 4.3.3 ipsw firmware.

but when i go to restore it will only restore if i update to the lastest firmare (5.1) how do i go around this to get to 4.3.3?
when i open cydia at the top there is:
SHSH: iOS 4.1, 4.2.1 4.2~b3, 4.3, 4.3.3, 4.3.5

can you please help me get to 4.3.3 to jailbreak

he then told me to get tiny umbrella run the server shift restore and then pick the 4.3.3 file i downloaded using this link:

i then got this error:

while it was preparing to restore i got an error:

An unknown error occured (1604)

ive tried many restores, getting out of recovery mode and trying again and again, same error

i also went to the folder in my application data to delete the files in that folder , cant remember which one, but there were no files there

please help

You need to put it in pwned dfu before you shift+restore to the ipsw you downloaded. Other than that I think you got it. Just make sure the tu server is running too.

What programme do i need to get into pwned dfu?

I'd say redsn0w, but there's a few options like ireb, ac1dra1n, I know I'm forgetting one too.I personally prefer redsn0w myself.

If you download redsn0w 0.9.6rc16 it'll get you pwned dfu and also jailbreak untethered for you as well. If you need help just ask.

Ok you already have the 4.3.3 ipsw so you open redsn0w click extras, select your ipsw file, then select pwned dfu (in redsn0w). Follow the instructions. Once in p-dfu start tu server select the cydia option, then shift-restore to 4.3.3 ipsw. If not 16xx or 31xx errors your good to go. Open redsn0w again (cant have iTunes and redsn0w open at same time) extras again select ipsw again, go back out of extras select jailbreak, install cydia only and again just follow the instructions provided by redsnow. Let me know if you get any errors.

Let me summarize it for you :

Create a custom firmware of 4.3.3 : Mac ( Redsn0w 0.9.9b7 to create a No bb cfw of 4.3.3) or Snowbreeze 2.7.3 ( hactivated or non- activated using Expert mode option )

Run tiny Umbrella >Adv Tab > Select : set hosts file to Cydia
Select : request shsh blob from cydia > click save shsh
Look under General Tab : you should see 4.3.3 shsh blob.
Start Tss Server and keep it running.

Use Redsn0w 0.9.6 b6 or higher, browse to stock 4.1 and set iphone into pwned dfu mode.
A message will display DFU done when you have properly pwned your iphone.
Run itunes : shift /Option + restore to custom firmware of 4.3.3

If you used the No bb cfw of 4.3.3 , then jailbreak it with jailbreakme.com 3.0
If you used snowbreeze to create a cfw of 4.3.3, you are already jailbroken upon restore.

ok so i downloaded red snow 9.9 beta 8
i opened it up
clicked extras
select ipsw ---> the 4.3.3 ispw file i downloaded
then on pwned dfu, i suceeded into getting it into pwned dfu
i then close it and start running tiny umbrella server then shift restore
now i get a 2005 error :L

how can i fix this one

You are still at 4.1 right ?, so you run redsn0w 0.9.6b6 and above, browse to stock 4.1 to put your iphone into pwned dfu mode.
Itunes update to the latest.
Start tss server
Run Itunes : shift + restore to custom firmware of 4.3.3

To create custom firmware use Snowbreeze 2.7.3 to create a custom firmware of 4.3.3

Im sorry ive never used redsnow before, where do i find the stock 4.1?
And then i download snowbreeze load in that 4.3.3 file i downloaded earlier to make it custom?
Then restore with tht new ispw custome file i made with snowbreeze?

Is that right?

hmm ive done it, im on 4.3.3 jailbroken
but up top it doesnt say vodafone anymore and i always seem to have 1 bar
also i cant go in to my network settings :S

you should activate your iphone with its original sim carrier before proceeding to jailbreak...

i used the hacktivate tool in snowbreeze

does this not do it automatically?

What is your baseband ? Do you have the official sim to trigger/ activate it ? If you are with official carrier , then when creating custom firmware , you shouldn't hactivate your cfw of 4.3.3.

ok so i put it back into pwned dfu
made a new snowbreeze ispw
and re resotred it
and it is working now apart from me not connecting to 3g :S

we have the vodafone sure signal so should get 3g full bars :S


EDIT: when i turn off wifi it says i have 3g but my signal bar is only the 1 small bar :S

Are you able to make a call with 1 signal bar ? Having one signal bar is normal on 4.3.3, you will get more bars as you go closer to cell tower or outside where the signal is stronger.
