3GS 4.2.1 5.15 searching for carrier after failed unlock attempt

Hi, first post.
3GS was jailbroken months ago (redsnow?) and all was perfect until a failed unlock attempt in Australia (I wasn't aware of baseband issues). Back in Japan now and unable to connect to the legit carrier SIM but it's still searching all the time. I've tried restoring from a 2010 backup, 3gs on/off, jailbreaking w Greenpoison etc but no joy. Does anyone have any advice?

Run redsn0w to update to ipad baseband for unlock with Ultrasn0w from Cydia.

Thanks iYeow. I don't need the unlock any more, plus the risks of going to iPad bb....unless it's seriously the only option....I'd just like to make some calls! If possible I'm happy to go back to vanilla 4.2.1 and just jailbreak again. Any way?
