cannot get around errors in itunes
hey all, I am new to this forum and feel this is the best place for advice for my problem. i looked at the threads and i apologize if this is the wrong section. I was looking for a troubleshooting thread.
I have been trying to restore my phone since 10am this morning to no avail. I have and iPhone 4 running iOS 5.0 jailbroken. i have been all over google and multiple blogs and forums
I installed a cydia package called h1siri which was supposed to possibly make siri work for some people, so i stupidly gave it a chance and now i wish i never did. i am pretty well versed in using the tools available to make sure my device can always be at least restored to a custom ipsw and have always been able to pull myself from a sticky situation but this time has got my number.
Here is my issue:
Using my macbook pro: when my phone would not boot tethered (did not get by pineapple logo) after installing h1siri and rebooting tethered, i tried to restore. I first got the 3194 error, got passed that using tiny umbrella. then i got a 1600 error which i got past from making sure i got into pwned dfu mode. then i got the 11 error which i have not been able to get by. i tried deleting the bbfw file using windows 7 but i could not get it back into a ipsw from a zip that itunes (10.5.1) would accept. im stuck there.
using my windows machine: i got the 3194 error and fixed it using tiny umbrella again. then now i am getting a 2005 error. I have tried every usb port on 2 different windows machines, 4 different usb cables, and deleted itunes and reinstalled. i cannot get past the error 2005.
I am at a loss, if anyone knows any other way of getting past the error 11 on mac or error 2005 on windows(and even the i expect to see an error 11 on windows) please share.
all and any info is much appreciated,
thanks!!

2005 error normally means hardware error and like ya said ya tried that. And the 11 error for ya Mac is Removed BBFW file in the firmware folder of an unzipped IPSW. Can also be used to prevent a baseband update. The device is bootable, if you set the auto-boot to true or use TinyUmbrella and use "Kick Device out of Recovery".
You are trying to update to a custom firmware from PwnageTool 4.1+. You always have to go into DFU mode and restore from there.
Are you on 5.0 and trying to restore to 5.0 again?

Ok so error 11 is because i am using a firmware that has removed bbfw. now i did it see somewhere that part about "Can also be used to prevent a baseband update. The device is bootable, if you set the auto-boot to true or use TinyUmbrella and use "Kick Device out of Recovery"."
how do i set the auto-boot to true?
i have gone into dfu everytime i have tried to restore.
i dont understand how kicking it out of recovery will help restore or boot tethered. is recovery the same thing as dfu? cuz if so, i need to be in dfu/recovery to either boot tethered or restore.

i am trying to go to 5.0, i have tried going to a custom ipsw 5.0.1 using sn0wbreeze to make the custom 5.0.1 but that gave the same errors as trying to use 5.0.
at this point i will go to either 5.0 or 5.0.1, i just cant do a factory restore that updates the baseband because i rely on it for the unlock, and not a ultrasn0w unlock, i dont have a data plan from ATT but for some reason my sim works without ultrasn0w or a data plan.

I tried everything I could, mine was stuck in a recovery loop/dfu loop.
I even tried to upgrade normally without preserving baseband. but the got a 1600 error instead.
they say to fix error 11 you need to unzip the ipsw, take out the baseband, and zip it back up and turn it into an ipsw again.
well when i unzipped it took out the baseband (which is the bbfw file in the firmware folder) and then tried to zip it up and rename it to ipsw, itunes said it was not a real ipsw, so i do not know how to take it out without corrupting the file.
BUT I have found that is not how to fix error 11. error 11 is because the ipsw you are using does NOT HAVE a baseband (bbfw) file much like the NO_BB ipsw files you are using. So i never got around it. I do not know why all of a sudden we got this error when I have used this method countless times since the 1st gen iPhone years ago. I even tried installing an older version of itunes (10.2) but still got the error
I was goin to try to open the ipsw, put in the current bbfw (4.10.01 of an iphone 4 iOS 4.x.x, instead of the 4.11.08 or whatever of the iphone 4 5.x.x firmwares ) file, so at least it has one, and the zip the ipsw back up and restore with that, but like i said i could not successfully rezip the ipsw and change it into a ipsw that itunes would recognize.
i could not get my phone to turn at all without using a tethered boot, not even to be stuck at the apple logo.
so i took it to apple and hoped they would not know it was jailbroken, and they could not get it to turn on, so i paid 150 for a replacement iPhone 4.
they only looked at the serial number on my SIM tray to know what kind of iPhone it was, I am convinced if I had a SIM tray from a 4S with a 4S serial they would have replaced it for free with a 4S, but too late now.
anyway, if you try the ipsw thing you may have a shot, but if not, i'll tell you all the other things i tried. i fiddled with it for 3 straight says trying to get it to restore, but obviously to no avail.

Luckily mine still boots no problem into 4.3.1. Failed upgrade hasn't seemed to do anything to the software.
