Default Upgrade ios 4.0.1 to 4.3.3 or 5.0.0..?

I have an iPhone 4 32g with 4.0.1, currently jailbroken.

I want to upgrade my ios version, mainly to get up to date (mostly) and so I can use new apps. Another big reason is the proximity sensor issue, I've been dealing w/ it for the last year now.

Is 4.3.3 an untethered jailbreak? What about any possibility of 5.0/5.0.1? I don't want a tethered jb regardless.

    So I'm assuming this process:
-Download 4.3.3 for iPhone 4, install via shift+restore in itunes (do I need to change my hosts?)
_*Do I or should I back up any blobs or whatever you call it, to preserve the baseband?
    -Use jailbreakme.com to jb.

    Thanks guys!

Anything in with 5.0 or 5.0.1 while be tethered. Apple isn't signing 5.0 anymore ya would have to go to 5.0.1. Ya can see if ya have any blobs for 4.3.3 but since ya never updated I doubt ya will have any.

If you jb'd on 4.0.1, u most likely have shsh saved for 4.3.3. Open Cydia
And check near top of page n see what shsh shows. If no Cydia download and run latest tinyumbrella and plug in phone, click on phone on left side, click in save shsh on right side. Go to advanced tab and check request shsh from Cydia check box and click save shsh again..go to log tab and see what shsh u have saved.. Let us know and we'll go from there..

Is that good? And should I back anything up before upgrading to 4.3.3? (aside from my app data).

Great. Should I back up the SSH blobs somehow first? What does that do anyways, allow you to downgrade later?

They should already be saved. And yes upgrade or downgrade to them.
